The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS) is a Federal Scientific Institute developing science-based activities supporting policy in a wide range of areas, including biology, ecology and nature and biodiversity conservation. The mission of its Operational Directorate Natural environment is – amongst others – to support the management of the marine environment by scientific activities including in situ measurements, mathematical modelling, and management advice to policymakers. It offers service with respect to the development of the Blue Economy, focusing on nature-inclusive design of offshore installation. Service provisioning is built around providing access to the marine ecosystem, developing in-situ experimental structures and taxonomic expertise.
