The Metabolomics Lab offers several state-of-the art platforms for the identification of small molecules through combined liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques. This infrastructure includes three instruments consisting of U-HPLC, fast LC or nano-LC systems interfaced with UV detector and Q-Exactive Plus, Exploris 120 or LTQ-Orbitrap XL mass spectrometers having linear ion trap or quadrupole selectors with high collision dissociation (HCD) linked to Orbitrap™ analysers. This multifaceted analytical instrumentation allows the identification and accurate quantitation through targeted and untargeted analyses of a broad range of small molecules extending from polar, apolar, charged, basic, acid compounds to aromatic and branched analytes.
