The platform at the VIB Screening Core integrates high-content imaging and plate reader-based detection with liquid handling and automation technologies to enable high-content/high-throughput
screening (HCS/HTS). A dedicated team of experts operates the platform and assists researchers in the optimization, miniaturization and automation of assays relevant for specific diseases and/or biological pathways. The infrastructure is compatible with biochemical assays, quantitative 2D/3D cellular assays at various resolutions (cell subpopulations, single cells, subcellular events) and assays in small model organisms (e.g. yeast, Arabidopsis thaliana, zebrafish…) in a miniaturized format. A diverse set of 55,000 drug-like and 15,000 agro-like synthetic molecules, a set of 10,800 known drugs/bioactives and a human siRNA collection (8,000 genes, the druggable genome) are available to set-up HTS experiments.
