UTAD (University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro) provides innovative socioeconomic, socioecological and technological services to enhance the agroecological transition both at region level and the value-chain approach, through the combined expertise of two research units (RU): CETRAD (Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies) and CITAB (Centre for the Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences). CETRAD (www.cetrad.utad.pt) is a social sciences RU focused on smart sustainable territorial development; CITAB (www.citab.utad.pt) is a RU focused on the agro-food and forestry systems using the production-chain approach as a whole. The two RU are jointly developing the Douro Socio-Ecological Living Lab. The SocioEcoLL aim is co-creating socio-ecological services and innovations to tackle challenges of agroecological transition in Mediterranean crops, landscapes and regions.
