About Service

Our BSL-2 Lab allows the handling of microbial consortia in conditions related to hygienization and inocuity studies, according to the growing demand of anaerobic digestion operators. In particular, monitoring via the inoculation of potentially pathogenic strains; for example to study the sanitary inocuity of digestates before their use as fertilizers or to evaluate pasteurization treatments. The isolation and cultivation of strict anaerobic strains and pure cultures for biotechnological purposes (biomolecules, methane and bioH2, microalgal products, etc.) in aerobic & anaerobic conditions is also possible.

Digestate and compost constitute resources that are still insufficiently developed and must meet agronomic quality criteria, under constraints of environmental and health safety regulations.
The comprehension of the fate of pathogens potentially present in agro & agri-food residues and the impact of the treatments (anaerobic digestion, composting) on pathogens reduction is crucial; as well as their potential spread during the recycling of organic waste products.

Specific informations

Full equipped laboratory complying with BSL-2 requirements: laminar-flow cabinet, doors separating the working space with the rest of the facility, restricted access, biological safety cabinet (BSC), autoclave, HVAC system, lockable room for medical waste accumulation and storage, etc.

This service is linked to our other services provided (anaerobic digestion & composting studies).

Specific training is manadatory.
