About Service

The WISH – ALM and Molecular Imaging Node in Wageningen joins the outstanding scientific and technical excellence of four participating expertise groups specialized in light microscopy, microspectroscopy, magnetic resonance and electron microscopy.

This Node applies these advanced imaging technologies to plant research within a multidisciplinary research environment of cell & developmental biologists, (bio-) physicists and biochemists.

Advanced instrumentation has been developed for the particular purpose of studying photosynthesis in vivo with the use of ultrafast fluorescence at the level of individual cells and chloroplasts. Additionally, the Node has expertise in the imaging of bacteria and archaea from soil and marine environments

Specific informations

The WISH – ALM and Molecular Imaging Node in Wageningen offers a dozen set-ups for optical microscopy and spectroscopy.

Functional Imaging:

  • 1. Confocal FLIM with optical tweezers: The Microtime 200 is a confocal microscope designed for detecting single molecules with high time accuracy, for quantitative FRET, FLIM and FCS. The Bruker/JPK Nanotracker2 optical tweezers allow to perturb samples and measure forces on a micrometer scale.
