The PPBI - Portuguese Platform of BioImaging is a multi-sited, multimodal Euro-BioImaging Node covering biological imaging.
PPBI comprises several advanced microscopy core facilities, organized in 3 geographical imaging clusters. PPBI services focus on advanced microscopy and image analysis for a wide range of life science domains.
For the AgroSERV project, the Node offers its particular expertise in plant biology, microbiology and marine biology, to the use of high-end live imaging and functional imaging systems, high-throughput microscopy and electron microscopy with elemental analysis.
At PPBi, users will find support in imaging live and fixed plant tissue and pollen grains, as well as performing subcellular protein localization in different plant organs (stem, root and leaves). This analysis can be performed not only through confocal microscopy, but also using FLIM or super-resolution approaches.
Additionally, PPBI provides expertise in laser microdissection of plant tissue for subsequent characterization of biomolecular profiles (DNA, RNA) in different structures/cells of the tissue.
