The France BioImaging Node is at the crossroads between molecular and cell biology, integrated physiology, biophysics and engineering, mathematics and informatics. This unique coordinated infrastructure in the European landscape gathers several large facilities and R&D laboratories specializing in imaging in 5 National Geographic locations and one transversal Node in bioimage informatics. In this consortium, the Node offers specialised expertise on biosensors imaging applied to plants, anatomical phenotyping and on the use of multiphoton microscopy combined with linear unmixing to localize secondary metabolites in plants. Additionally, multiple research institutes specifically dedicated to working on water and mineral plant nutrition and plant breeding are part of the Node and will offer its services and expertise, particularly in super-resolution and functional imaging applied to plant samples and plant phenotyping, as well as methods to track metabolites following plant stress response, including in plant-insect and plant-microorganism interactions. The platform has also developed methods to study large plant samples structure (fruits, seeds, roots, leaves and stems) with a unique prototype of serial block face imaging.
