About Service

The National Microscopy Infrastructure (NMI) in Sweden enable all researchers to access and benefit from innovative imaging technologies, expert service and training essential for performing cutting-edge research in plant biology, environmental sciences and soil microbiology through its specialize nodes. Our vision is that the NMI will allow users to think broadly and select the best possible instrument(s), light and/or electron microscope(s), to provide detailed answers to their scientific questions at the highest resolution. The general services NMI provides are:

  • 1. Access to microscopes:  NMI makes available a unique range of state-of-the-art microscopes for analysis, ranging from electron tomography and super-resolution microscopy to in vivo animal imaging.
  • 2. Access to expertise: Application experts support the users in all steps of their projects, including project planning, sample preparation, microscopy, and image/data analysis.
  • 3. Training: NMI provides training, both theoretical and practical. Workshops and user meetings introduce new technologies and spread knowledge about NMI services. PhD courses are organized on a regular basis to train users in the fundamentals of these state-of-the-art technologies. Hands-on training at the instruments is tailored to the needs of each individual user project. NMI also organize training for microscopy facility staffs (“train the trainer”).
