About Service

This service includes the set-up and the appliance of protocols for pests and diseases survey, surveillance, forecast and sampling as well as the guidelines for biological control based on introduction of parasitoids, antagonists and predators of pests.

Set-up of integrated approaches at site specific (case) level as well as landscape levels and assessment of how they contribute to enhancing adaptive capacities and resilience of the systems. At landscape level the inner correlations between landscape (structure, element or land cover categories), flora communities and the delivery of key ecosystem services (such as pest and disease control, weed control and management, nutrient cycling, soil fertility and contrast to soil erosion and to water waste and depletion) are studied.

The service will be delivered at CIHEAM Bari campus, Italy.

Specific informations

Tailored solutions for landscape modification and restoration can be designed, proposed and implemented with the aim to adapt agroecosystems (agricultural ecosystems) to climate change as well as provide a diagnosis of the specific part of land, highlighting the weak elements to be reinforced at landscape level in order to contrast the spreading of invasive pest and increasing the performance of appropriate measures of containment and control.
